Lots of bassists used Steinberger Basses in the 80`s, but no longer. I feel that it was probably the most innovative new bass design since Leo Fender designed the P-BASS.

My friend told me that he ran his Steinberger bass over with his car, (by accident?) and then put it in the trunk of his car. He played a gig the next night, and the bass was still in tune, and unscathed. Now that's what I call a roadworthy axe!
